kalidofish

After work today I messed around with making kaleidoscope patterns in photoshop/illustrator then combined one of my patterns with the fish render I made of the sketch my friend Adrian & me came up with a couple months back during the sardines project.

Other then that, I've basically been working everyday I can trying to save for next year meaning, I've been strapped for time when it comes to actually working on my website. A few days ago I played around with some of the css/javascript files and adjusted some code to suit what I'm looking at but, as it stands I'm still playing with a couple ideas for the final site. The current plan would be a simple clean layout that contains most of the content on one page but I still have a bunch of new renders to create and older work to update/clean up so still plenty to finish up before I'm ready to launch it.

news

So,  I've almost finished relocating once again. I should get around to posting some new content in the next couple of days I just need to unpack and get organized first. Tonight I decided to play around with wordpress and spent about an hour trying to fix something before realizing a plugin was conflicting with my theme -__-;     well its been a while since I've really attempted anything but I think I can still manage to produce something decent soon!

Oh, I also made this for a friend quicktime its quite similar to the previous dlc stuff and its still pretty basic but still:

wordmarks

These are two wordmarks I've made in a couple hours. both consist of heavily modified type and stylization but I'm still tweaking and playing with colours and stuff like that, so for now some roughs... both names are created out of my name is some form Newtopia uses my initials (new) and Watsons is kinda obvious-

packages

Since I'm enrolled in packaging program I probably should post some designs I've worked on
This will be a quick update as I'm preparing to move and finish up my year but I'll try to post digital mock ups as well in the future-

Glosettes, three age groups
bbq Sauce packer with product (with misprinted Jeeny's word-mark)
Side view BBQ packer
BBQ sauce dry mixes

I realize I'm missing the back panels for the bbq sauces but I'll get more detailed in next update I just wanted to share before I get busy again with work and moving

sardines

...another quick one before sleeping

I had the choice to redesign any product So, I decided to have a bit of fun with it.
I had about twelve designs drawn in about 4 hours then the following took about another hour or two to render and digitize so, keep in mind these were a pretty quick job-

either way. sardines.

Bouncy

Soo.. its been a long time since I've posted anything, I have been hard at work on a bunch of new projects and was testing out some ideas for my site a couple months ago but decided to focus more on school and sorting out life stuff the last couple months. I'm almost finished school now, so I'll have a lot more time to update everything- Here's a quick bounce mock up I made a month or two ago. I was planning on posting a 3d render of the product unfortunately I was having some issues with the symbols mapping properly (the face panels refused to render) my guess is illustrator couldn't render the face panel properly due to the complexity of some of the objects but whatever, It's pretty late and I'm catching some sleep after this-

Purina mock ups (rough_v02)

hey just a quick update before I sleep, I've been working on some mock-ups for Purina Beggin' Strips- here are two half sized semis I've started (front/back panel/revamped logos). So far these are pretty rough but on there way so I figured I'd post them. For now I'm only posting the two semis... but I have a bunch of roughs I might post when I have the finished mock ups to post as well.

flavicon-

not much to update at the moment, only that I posted a new flavicon on the blog I'm not really a fan of it but its better then the default blogger icon! I've been playing around with some script and I think I found a solution to some of the goals I had with the site, the way its looking I think I'm going to go with a flash site .. I'm starting to get busy again so I think thats the best way to go for the time being - I'm going to try to keep updating as often as I can even if its doodles or something along those lines again but I'll see

cell sketch

Hey,

another quick one, I felt like brushing up on some vectoring skills so I decided to sketch out imperfect cell from dbz quickly using a low res screen from the show as reference. below is the line art and a quick coloured version.

website and updates

Hey,

Just a quick update regarding whats going on with everything.
I have a bunch of work to update and post on here soon- I recently bought a new computer meaning I need to transfer everything over, once I do that I'll post more work hopefully soon. I'm starting a new semester tomorrow but I want to try to update new work and what I've been thinking of starting up.
Other then that, I was talking to an oldfriend the other night and he pushed for me to actually get my site (n33il.com) online and running again as its been a while. I actually started planning out the site and playing around with some script to see what I can still do. Good news is, so far so good. I have a list of all the assets I need to secure from my old comp, an approximate layout/structure for the site and a pretty good idea of how I'm going to accomplish this. It feels good to be doing some dev work again.

Cheers.

Havn't posted in a while.. heres a quick one-
Took a couple hours to make this, I still want to change the text on the bottom and fix some lines but. Its sorta complete. Aside from that, I have a bunch of half started pieces that I want to post eventually.. I just need to find some time to work on my own stuff rather then school and work..

Updates-

Hey,

I havn't been able to update recently due to work and getting ready to move, however I have been working on some new vector art and trying out some new things so hopefully I'll get something up soon when I'm unpacked and settled into my new place.

Project Space (aka the demo) is also on hold for the time being, I have one level finished with music and everything however when I started composing music I got fairly distracted and started trying to learn more about the software I was using resulting in a lack of time to work on the game itself. I'm aiming at imitating early Famicom music by writing midi tracks then converting the tracks through another piece of software which mirrors the sound range somewhat closely.

Aside from that, I recently received in the mail a copy of a CD I designed (a couple of entries back) so I'll post some photos of that as well when I unpack and find them again.

Cheers,

in the loop

I took down the current n33il.com and replaced it with a temp site (well a splash page...basically)
regardless, I've got some big things planned for the launch of the new site. Although I do not think my new design will be up for a couple weeks it'll be awesome to say the least. The "demo" may also be delayed to launch simultaneously with the site. It's currently in a early prototype stage but its turning out pretty good so far. I'm working on boss logic and pretty much just making it look good. The demo might be only a level or two while I think the full game will be 5-10. Although, in terms of levels and the structure of levels themselves I'm still making a couple design choices of how exactly each "level" will play out (ie point a to point b or something non linear ).

Other then that I've been working with a couple clients ranging from websites to business cards so I've been keeping busy the past couple weeks explaining my lack of updates in the past week or two.

Cheers.

Progress

The photograph above is from a photoshoot with an artist I shotwhile working at Euphonic Sound. The weather conditions were fairly poor as it was consistently raining all day but it was a pretty good day, while I was finishing up editing the set back at the studio I messed around with some of the colors pretty heavily on a few of the shots I liked (the above is an example).

The 'game' has been shaping up nicely. I fixed a bunch of AI & Hit detection issues, added game-over menus and just overall cleaned it up a bit more. I'm slowly leaning towards making it into a facebook app....just for the heck of it

Rainy Day

Just a little update today,

I just wanted to update on whats been going on lately with my work and updates to the blog/site. I recently had a few client jobs to take on so those had to take priority over personal projects for a little while however, I had the chance to assist the filming of a live event and dabble in a bit of online work once again.

on a side note- I have started reviving an old project. I mentioned in a previous entry I was going to dig up some old flash work...and I did but, I decided to completely rebuild one project in particular that was never quite finished or given enough time or effort. I'm not promising anything too spectacular but it will be a short game hopefully with a demo ready to post in a month or so-
The project is still in a pretty simple state & I`d post more details but I'd like this one to be a bit of a surprise

Parallax & Looking Back

I made this a little while ago and figured I would post it here as well,
but another parallax effect created in after effects enjoy-

_________

Also new on my channel is a old PSA I made for a grade 10 comm-tech course at my high school.. needless to say I didn't take it very seriously at the time but It's kind of funny to watch now.

I also found some other old work from the class which needless to say is pretty bad, but funny. There was a set of old business cards for a fake paintball company, a fake movie poster featuring carrot top, a business man and some random kid. Another random half-baked "horror" movie and this..

I don't even know whats going on here or what I was thinking. I'm pretty sure I had to green-screen something (I notice a bit of a green bleed around me) as well as X-number of layers to make a post card of our own imagination..

I might try to find some of my old flash work from when I had next to no knowledge of how flash works or what I was able to do- I recall it being pretty awful to say the least but its kind of interesting to see what I attempted in the past regardless of quality.

Aside from that insight into my juvenile work, I have begun researching & learning bits and pieces of php. Today I created a simple user log-in forum and last night attempted to learn about loops and timestamps (with some minor success) which is working towards something I plan to design in the future. Finally, research has started on the new n33il.com layout, still a very early stage of development but its long overdue and on the way..
